China has proposed hosting a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump to facilitate peace talks regarding the war in Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing well-informed sources.

China’s Proposal and Diplomatic Maneuvers

According to Reuters, Chinese officials conveyed this offer to Trump’s team through intermediaries. However, China’s Foreign Ministry has not yet issued an official response regarding the matter.

On Wednesday, Trump stated that both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed their willingness to achieve peace during separate phone conversations with him. Following these discussions, Trump directed senior U.S. officials to initiate negotiations aimed at ending the war.

Conflicting Summit Locations

The Kremlin confirmed that Putin and Trump agreed to meet, with the Russian president extending an invitation for Trump to visit Moscow. However, Trump announced that their first meeting since his return to office would take place soon in Saudi Arabia.
