Chinese authorities have called on the United States to avoid any military confrontation with Iran, emphasizing the need for diplomacy and restraint amid rising tensions.
Speaking at a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing hopes that all parties will prioritize peace and resolve disputes through dialogue rather than force.
“We hope all sides will give priority to peace, exercise restraint, and resolve disagreements through dialogue,” Mao stated when asked whether China would support Tehran in the event of a potential U.S. attack.
She added that China is closely monitoring developments related to Iran and is prepared to continue acting as what she described as “a responsible major power” in the current geopolitical situation.
According to the Chinese diplomat, Beijing consistently supports political and diplomatic solutions to international disputes and opposes the use or threat of force in international relations.
Mao also noted that China maintains long-standing friendly relations with Iran, stressing that Beijing supports the Iranian government and people in maintaining national stability and protecting their legitimate rights and interests.
The remarks come at a time of heightened global attention on Middle East tensions, with several governments calling for diplomatic engagement to prevent a broader regional conflict.
