John Ratcliffe, the Director of the CIA, has responded to recent controversy involving national security adviser Mike Waltz, clarifying that a CIA officer involved in the situation was not acting covertly.
According to Ratcliffe, Waltz used an application to coordinate security matters, requesting a point of contact between the White House and CIA staff.
“A CIA officer was not acting undercover. I simply provided the name of an officer who operates openly and appropriately, often serving as a liaison between the White House and my staff,” Ratcliffe explained.
He emphasized that the communication was originally initiated by Waltz to establish a direct point of contact and was not meant to replace classified high-level communication systems. When asked whether the exchange included sensitive details on weapons or operational timelines, Ratcliffe firmly stated, “Not to my knowledge.”
