Citizens and visitors in New Orleans, USA, have been asked to stay away from the city’s most famous street, now a crime scene, where a vehicle plowed into a crowd, resulting in 10 deaths and over 30 injuries.
“I am asking the public to stay away from the eight blocks around Bourbon Street,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell during a press conference on Wednesday morning, according to CNN.
As the investigation continues at the deadly scene where the vehicle drove through pedestrians in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans, federal law enforcement agents are also checking for possible improvised explosives at the location.
“Improvised explosive devices were found,” said Alethea Duncan, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s New Orleans office.
Duncan declined to respond to reporters’ questions seeking more details about how many suspected devices were being examined.
