The Parliament of Republika Srpska has appointed Ana Trišić Babić, a close associate of Milorad Dodik, as the interim president of the Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Babić, who serves as Dodik’s foreign policy adviser, is known for her loyalty to him and was previously mentioned as a potential candidate to lead Bosnia’s EU accession negotiations, according to Bosnian media reports cited by KosovaPress.
Dodik lost his mandate as president of Republika Srpska earlier this year after the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina found him guilty of failing to implement the decisions of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Following his removal, Dodik temporarily delegated certain presidential powers—mainly those related to document signing—to his Croatian deputy, Davor Pranjić. However, that move was later deemed legally questionable, prompting the ruling majority in the entity’s parliament to propose the appointment of an interim president until the upcoming elections on November 23.
