The Serbian Tax Administration (ATS), which was operating illegally in North Mitrovica, has been shut down today by the Kosovo Police. During the operation, various falsified documents were seized, and a case for document forgery has been opened.
Veton Elshani, the Deputy Commander of the Police for the North region, confirmed to IndeksOnline that the operation began at 09:00, and as of now, no arrests have been made.
“At around 9 a.m., we entered this building, which, according to our information, was functioning as a tax office (a branch of the Serbian Ministry of Finance). In this location, we found evidence that supports our suspicion, and after consulting with the prosecutor, the individuals present left, and the building has been closed until a full verification of the facts is conducted,” said Elshani. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are analyzing the seized documentation to determine legal responsibility.
