Discontent within the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), caused by the policies implemented by the Donald Trump administration—primarily the Department led by Elon Musk focused on cost-cutting—is the subject of a CNN article.
“The CIA is conducting an official review to assess potential damage from an unclassified email sent to the White House in early February, which listed several officials by their last names and initials for potential termination, which could have exposed the roles of people working under covert identities,” a source familiar with the situation told CNN.
This event is linked to policies from Donald Trump’s second administration, mainly with the Department of Government Efficiency.
“It is just one of many changes arising from President Donald Trump’s efforts to ‘slam’ the federal government—including the CIA. Efforts by the administration to reduce the workforce and control spending at the CIA and elsewhere threaten to jeopardize some of the most sensitive government work, say current and former officials familiar with internal discussions, according to CNN.
According to their information, “a senior official from the Department of Treasury sent a memo warning Treasury Secretary Scott Besant that assigning a computer engineer from the Government Efficiency Office led by Elon Musk to the ultra-sensitive government payment system could expose highly classified CIA payments flowing through that system.”
Fox News journalist Jesse Waters responded to the article published by CNN, linking the Central Intelligence Agency with the renowned media outlet.
“But the intelligence community doesn’t like being told what to do. When they saw Musk with a chainsaw cutting foreign aid, they started leaking information to CNN: ‘If you follow us, there will be consequences,’” said Waters, quoting CNN.
“On the seventh floor of the CIA—where top leadership is located—some officials are quietly discussing how massive layoffs and packages already offered to employees could create a group of disgruntled former employees who might be motivated to pass along what they know to a foreign intelligence service,” Waters quotes CNN as saying, explaining:
“CIA is telling CNN that if their funding is cut, they will sell state secrets to Russia. Who the hell hired these Benedict Arnolds? The CIA is supposed to be full of patriots, not traitors,” said Waters.
