CNN commentator Van Jones revealed that conservative activist Charlie Kirk sent him a message on X one day before he was killed during a show at the University of Utah Valley.
Jones said the message was an invitation for a public debate about the killing of a Ukrainian refugee:
“Hey Van, I’m serious, I would really like to have you on my show so we can talk… We may not agree on these issues.”
He noted that he did not have the chance to respond before Kirk was killed and strongly condemned the act:
“Political killing is wrong, period. No one should return to that time of violence that I experienced.”
Jones added that Kirk’s death should serve as a call for dialogue and an end to political violence, highlighting that Kirk had sought constructive conversation just one day before his death.
