Albania earns top recognition on the European music stage

The prestigious American media outlet CNN has named the song “Zjerm” by the Albanian duo Shkodra Elektronike as the best entry in Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This marks a remarkable achievement for Albania, shining a bright spotlight on the country’s presence in the highly competitive European music scene.

In a detailed article published on Friday, CNN ranked all 26 finalist songs of this year’s Eurovision, placing Albania firmly at the number one spot. Author Rob Picheta described the Albanian duo as “the biggest surprise of this year’s Eurovision,” praising their originality and fresh approach.

A Unique Sound Outside the Mainstream

In an exclusive interview with CNN, lead singer Beatriçe Gjergji shared that participating in Eurovision was not entirely aligned with their usual musical style.

“Eurovision is actually not the kind of music we normally do,” she admitted.

This divergence from the norm, according to Picheta, was precisely what gave Albania its competitive edge. The song “Zjerm” stood out for its uniqueness and ability to capture public attention among a sea of typical Eurovision entries.

Belief and Innovation Lead to Success

Reflecting on the group’s unexpected success, Beatriçe Gjergji said,

“If you believe in the kind of music you want to create, maybe something can happen.”

This statement underlines the power of authenticity and innovation in music—qualities that helped Shkodra Elektronike break through and win hearts across Europe.
