Acting Prime Minister and leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has called for efforts to ensure that the coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) in Vushtrri turns into a true governing partnership.

He emphasized that after November 9, this coalition should work together in the interest of the citizens.

“We must work not just every day, but every hour to implement this co-governance agreement we made today—turning it into real governance after November 9—with Mayor Sylejman Meholli and directors who will deliver valuable and effective work for all citizens of Vushtrri, without distinction, for this city that we love deeply and that loves us back,” said Kurti.

Meanwhile, Xhafer Tahiri, LDK’s candidate in the October 12 elections, said that this coalition was made as a gesture of reciprocity, to return the support that Vetëvendosje had given him in 2017.

“On my behalf, on behalf of the LDK leadership in Vushtrri, and the municipal assembly members, allow me to thank you for your presence. This agreement is not against anyone—it is for the citizens of Vushtrri. As a believer, I think good must be repaid with good. In 2017, VV supported change in Vushtrri; today, LDK is returning that support in our city,” said Tahiri.

However, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK)’s central leadership reacted shortly afterward, stating that Tahiri was not authorized to make such an agreement and that the coalition is his personal and individual action, not representing the party’s official stance.
