On Tuesday, February 18, an international conference titled “The Future of US-Kosovo Relations and Public Diplomacy” will be held at the Elliott School of International Affairs, an American university renowned for international and diplomatic studies.
The conference aims to foster a deep discussion about the relations between the US and Kosovo, the role of public diplomacy, and its impact on the country’s future.
The event is organized by Jeta Abazi Gashi (University of Prishtina) in collaboration with Professor Babak Bahador and is supported by the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at the Elliott School. It will gather prominent experts from the fields of politics, diplomacy, international relations, media, and art.
The first panel, US-Kosovo Relations and Public Diplomacy, will feature Elez Biberaj, former director of the Voice of America Eurasia Division, Pëllumb Kelmendi, Associate Professor of Political Science at Auburn University, and Drilona Emrullahu, economist at the World Bank. The panel will explore the 25-year relationship between the US and Kosovo.
The second panel, The Future of US-Kosovo Relations and Public Diplomacy, will discuss the trajectory of the relationship in an increasingly polarized world, with participants including Ilir Dugolli, Kosovo’s Ambassador to the US; Charles Kupchan, Professor of International Relations at Georgetown University; and Jeta Abazi-Gashi, Fulbright Scholar and Researcher at George Washington University.
The third panel, Peacebuilding (Art, Media, and Politics), will examine perspectives on long-term peace and stability for Kosovo. Panelists will include Sislej Xhafa, Kosovar artist based in New York, Elizabeth Hume, Executive Director of the Peacebuilding Alliance, and Gëzim Visoka, Associate Professor at Dublin City University (DCU).
