U.S. Congressman Mike Lawler, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, stated that the United States does not interfere in determining Kosovo’s government.

“When people vote in their elections, the goal is to respect and accept that choice and work together to overcome divisions. In every country, people have the right to elect the government they want, and the U.S. objective is not to decide who forms the government. Our role is to work with whomever the people choose,” Lawler said in an interview with journalist Xhemajl Rexha on Interaktiv Talks.

He emphasized that Kosovo remains a strong U.S. ally and that maintaining an American military presence in Kosovo aligns with U.S. national security interests.

Regarding the Trump administration’s stance, Lawler noted that while Ambassador Richard Grenell will have a voice in the process, key figures like Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz will also play significant roles.

He also stated that the anticipated end of the war in Ukraine could allow for greater focus on securing lasting peace between Kosovo and Serbia.
