Today, the Constituent Session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo will take place.
Following the certification of the election results on Monday, the Assembly will convene today at 17:00 to formally constitute itself, reports RKS News.
The session was initially scheduled for 12:00 but was postponed by five hours at the request of PDK representatives, who sought to fully focus on the ongoing trial session at The Hague.
The formation of institutions and the government is expected to proceed quickly, as the party victorious in the 28 December elections, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV), holds a parliamentary majority.
During today’s meeting of the Assembly’s presidency, it was decided to proceed with a package vote for the five deputy speakers, while Dimal Basha stated that there was also consensus regarding the election of the Speaker and the related report.
“The proposal from all political parties or the leaders of non-majority, non-Serb community parties was clear: the vote will be held in a package, meaning a single vote for all five deputy speakers. There was consensus regarding the report and the Speaker. We expect the institutions to be formed very quickly, followed by the government vote, and then, as you know, the vote on the budget and international agreements,” Basha said.
