Kosovo observes Constitution Day, commemorating the adoption of its Constitution 18 years ago. The Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo was ratified on April 9, 2008, and came into effect on June 15 of the same year.
Acting President and Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, marked the occasion by emphasizing that April 9, 2008, symbolized the day when Kosovo achieved its full legal and political framework.
“Commitment to the Constitution remains a prerequisite for stability, development, and democratic consolidation,” the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo stated in a Facebook post.
Kosovo’s Constitution has since served as the cornerstone for the country’s democratic institutions, rule of law, and governance, guiding legislative, executive, and judicial functions.
