Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Harjulla Çeku, and Mayor of Suhareka Bali Muharremaj today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Suhareka City Stadium, a project worth around €11 million, financed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Kurti described the project as “an extraordinary development for Suhareka, for football, and for sports in Kosovo.” He emphasized that the stadium will be built according to UEFA Category 2+ standards and will feature over 6,500 seats.
“This is a major capital investment of €11 million. Now we expect Suhareka’s citizens and the municipality to follow the works closely so that construction goes smoothly and finishes as soon as possible — maybe even before the planned 750 days, hopefully in less than two years,” Kurti stated, according to the Government’s press release.
Meanwhile, Minister Çeku highlighted that Kosovo is currently seeing progress in multiple sports infrastructure projects.
“I am very pleased that we are launching this important investment for Suhareka, along with the auxiliary field that is already nearing completion. A significant sports complex is being developed here. Above all, I am excited for the young talents who have been waiting for this infrastructure to maximize their potential. Today’s joy and turnout show this is a festive day not just for Suhareka, but for all of Kosovo,” Çeku declared.
