The Instituti Hidrometeorologjik i Kosovës (IHMK) has reported that continuous rainfall throughout yesterday and overnight has led to rising water levels in several rivers across the country.
According to the institute, persistent precipitation since the afternoon of February 14, 2026, has particularly affected rivers in the Lepenc and Morava e Binçës basins, raising concerns about potential local flooding.
The Lepenc River, measured at the hydrometric station in Hani i Elezit, has risen to 2.93 meters and continues to increase. Similarly, the Morava e Binçës River in Viti has reached 1.33 meters and remains on an upward trend. The Nerodime River in Kaçanik has also recorded a rise, measuring 0.82 meters as of 08:00 on February 15, 2026.
IHMK stated that other rivers in Kosovo remain within normal flow levels and currently do not pose a flood risk.
Regarding precipitation levels, Brezovica recorded 24.8 mm (l/m²) of rainfall, while Hani i Elezit registered 36.8 mm.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, as continued rainfall could increase the likelihood of localized flooding in vulnerable areas.
