AM General, a leading provider of light tactical vehicle and mobility solutions, has finalized a three-year framework Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo for HUMVEE Hawkeye 105mm Mobile Howitzer Systems (MHS). The agreement also includes various HUMVEE-family support trucks, spare parts, and training and maintenance services.
The HUMVEE 2-CT Hawkeye 105mm Mobile Howitzer System integrates patented soft-recoil technology, allowing the vehicle to absorb up to 60% of recoil forces. The system can deploy, fire, and reposition in under 90 seconds.
“We are proud to announce the successful sale of the HUMVEE Hawkeye to Kosovo’s Ministry of Defense to meet the needs of the Kosovo Security Force,” said John Chadbourne, Executive Vice President for Business Development at AM General. “This system embodies durability, agility, and advanced technology, ensuring Kosovo’s armed forces are equipped with the best tools to protect and serve.”
The Hawkeye’s soft-recoil technology enables the integration of a 105mm cannon onto the proven HUMVEE platform, significantly enhancing survivability against counter-battery fire compared to traditional towed systems.
In addition to the Hawkeye systems, the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will receive ambulances, command-and-control vehicles, and other support trucks, enabling a full artillery battery and enhancing indirect fire capabilities. Deliveries are expected to begin within the next two years.
This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening Kosovo’s defense capabilities and deepening international cooperation in security and defense.
