A federal judge in Boston has blocked the Trump administration’s decision to ban international students from Harvard University from entering the United States.

Harvard had requested Judge Allison Burroughs to suspend the ban, arguing that the order was unlawful and that no evidence was provided showing these students pose a threat to national security.

The court filing stated: “The order denies thousands of Harvard students the right to come to this country, pursue their education, and chase their dreams, and it denies Harvard the right to educate them. Without international students, Harvard is not Harvard.”

The filing also argued that the national security threat claim was unfounded, as the ban did not prevent the same individuals from entering the U.S. for other reasons.

Harvard amended its previous lawsuit to include this ban as part of a broader dispute with the then-Republican administration.
