Court Makes Decision on Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, Suspected of Espionage

The Basic Court in Pristina has extended the detention of the two suspects for espionage, Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, for an additional two months.

The news was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Basic Court of Pristina, Mirlinda Gashi.

“In response to your request for information, we inform you that following the request of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo for the extension of the detention measure in the criminal case against the defendants B.Sh and M.Q, the Basic Court in Pristina – Special Department on 05.07.2024 has issued a ruling and approved the request of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, thus extending the detention measure for the two defendants for a duration of 2 months each,” she said.

Otherwise, Muharrem Qerimi and Bedri Shabani were arrested four weeks ago on suspicion of espionage. They are suspected of collaborating with the Serbian BIA.

The police reported that the investigations began in 2023.

During the search of the location of the two male Kosovar suspects, various documents, computers, phones, USBs, DVRs, tapes, weapons and ammunition, masks, military gas masks, and many other pieces of evidence were found and seized as material evidence.
