Court Orders 30-Day Pretrial Detention for Suspect in 2023 Violent Protests in Zvečan

The Basic Court in Pristina has ordered one month of pretrial detention for Sllobodan Radenković.

The news was confirmed to Gazeta Sinjali by spokesperson Mirlinda Gashi.

“The Basic Court in Pristina, Special Department, has ruled on the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo to impose pretrial detention in the criminal investigation against the accused S.R. due to suspicion of the following criminal offenses: association for unconstitutional activity with the intent to attack the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo, endangerment of persons under international protection, assault on an official, participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense, and hooliganism. The judge of the preliminary procedure approved the SPOK’s request, and the accused has been placed in pretrial detention for a period of one month,” Gashi stated.

Radenković was arrested on January 14 in Zvečan, facing suspicions of multiple criminal offenses.

“S.R. was detained on suspicions of: association for unconstitutional activity, endangerment of persons under international protection, participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense, hooliganism, and assault on an official. Additionally, a search was carried out at the suspect’s residence, where material evidence was collected to be used during the criminal proceedings,” the Special Prosecutor’s Office said.

After the arrest, the suspect’s house and associated properties were searched with the assistance of the Mitrovica North Regional Investigation Sector to secure evidence and testimonies.

During the search, the police seized several items, including:

  • Two mobile phones
  • A grey-and-black “Under Armour” tracksuit
  • A residence permit issued in the name of Milorad Bulatović
