The Basic Court in Prishtina has ordered 30 days of pre-trial detention for Fatmir Sheholli, who was arrested under suspicion of espionage.
“Yes, one month of detention,” confirmed Mirlinda Gashi, spokesperson for the Basic Court in Prishtina, in a statement to Sinjali.
Sheholli was arrested on October 9, 2025, by the Kosovo Police, in close cooperation with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI) and the prosecution, on allegations of involvement in espionage activities.
The arrest took place in the Prishtina region, carried out by investigators from the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes within the Kosovo Police. Initially, Sheholli was detained for 48 hours, while authorities conducted a search of his residence to secure additional material evidence.
Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla also reacted to the arrest on Thursday, emphasizing the seriousness of the case.
“I expect this case to be treated institutionally with the highest level of seriousness, as it represents one of the most severe acts against the security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo,” Sveçla stated.
