The court hearing related to the tear gas incident in the Kosovo Assembly in March 2018 has been postponed after the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, failed to appear in court.
Present at the session were Vetëvendosje deputies Salih Zyba and Fitore Pacolli-Dalipi, along with former MP Drita Millaku. However, Sveçla’s absence led to the adjournment of the proceedings.
The indictment, filed on July 26, 2019 by Prosecutor Eset Rama, accuses the four of obstructing an official person, alleging that their use of tear gas during a parliamentary session disrupted proceedings and forced MPs to evacuate the hall.
According to the prosecution, the case is supported by video recordings from the Assembly, police reports, photographic evidence, and official documentation from the Assembly Presidency, confirming the interruption of the session that day.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for January 16, 2026.
