The Basic Court in Pristina has rejected the Municipality’s request to suspend the decisions of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports (MCYS) regarding the “George Bush Square” project.
In its ruling issued on August 8, the court concluded that the Municipality’s demand for a security measure and postponement of execution was unfounded.
The acting Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku, welcomed the decision, stating that the Municipality’s project contained multiple legal violations.
“They failed to obtain the necessary permits, did not consult residents, ignored property issues, and signed an unlawful contract. The court has now twice rejected their suspension request,” Çeku said.
He emphasized that future development in Pristina must be legal, transparent, and based on a clear vision. Çeku added that sustainable solutions for the capital would begin after the October 12 elections, where he is running as the Vetëvendosje candidate for mayor.
