Heavy rainfall that has continued since Tuesday has led to a significant rise in the water level of the Vjosa River.

In several sections, water flows have exceeded 9 meters, causing flooding of agricultural land and damage to homes near high-risk areas, reports euronews.al.

In Memaliaj, the water level has reached 7.5 meters above sea level, a clear indicator of the intensity of the inflows.

As a result, the hydrometric station has been submerged, while approximately 100 hectares of land are currently under water.

The situation has also affected critical infrastructure, as water presence has been reported at the Kafaraj Pumping Station in the Frakull Administrative Unit, which supplies drinking water to the city of Fier.

So far, 14 residential houses have been affected by the flooding.
