Croatia is considering the temporary suspension of part of its scientific cooperation with Israel, as a political signal in response to the ongoing conflict, the country’s Foreign and European Affairs Minister, Gordan Grlić‑Radman, confirmed.

In a statement to Croatian media, Grlić‑Radman said:

“Croatia is currently examining the possibility of joining a growing number of EU member states that, by temporarily suspending part of their cooperation with Israel, aim to send a clear political message.”

The cooperation in question falls under the Horizon Europe program—the European Union’s main funding instrument for research and innovation. The European Commission has proposed a partial suspension of Israel’s participation in this program.

Grlić‑Radman emphasized that this measure does not imply a breakdown of dialogue, but rather serves as a form of political pressure on Israel. A decision is expected to be aligned with broader discussions taking place within the European Union.
