The Croatian media outlet “Index.hr” reports that Croatian authorities have arrested Croatian Air Force pilot J.I. and his partner A.M., a Kosovo citizen of Serbian nationality from Mitrovica, on suspicion of espionage. The operation reportedly involved Europol.

Investigators suspect that the pilot passed secret information to his partner, who then allegedly transmitted it to the Serb List, the party representing the Serbian minority in Kosovo.

According to Index.hr, the information comes from reliable sources, but attempts to confirm details with Croatian authorities have encountered official silence.

“The Police Directorate told us to contact the Ministry of Defense, as the military police are involved in this case. However, the Ministry of Defense has not yet released any official information. Both suspects were questioned today, and a decision on pretrial detention is pending,” the report states.

Investigators suspect that the Croatian pilot, who was deployed with KFOR (NATO’s international peacekeeping force in Kosovo), shared confidential information with his partner, which she then allegedly passed on to members of the Serb List.

Reports indicate that the information included the movements of the Serbian community in northern Kosovo from late 2022 to the present, as well as KFOR troop movements.
