Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has criticized the lack of a serious response from the European Union regarding the armed Serbian attack in Banjska, Kosovo, in September 2023.
Speaking today at the Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia, Plenković stressed that the armed assault in Banjska, Zvečan, did not receive the proper attention from the EU, whose leaders failed to issue any serious remarks toward Serbia.
“The attack in Banjska, which passed without statements or serious articulation from anyone in the EU. We acted as if it hadn’t happened,” Plenković said, as reported by INDEX-HR.
On the morning of September 24, 2023, Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed, police officer Alban Rashiti was wounded, and another was injured in a terrorist attack by an organized group in Banjska, Zvečan.
The attack was condemned by Kosovo’s leaders and international actors, who called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
On September 11, 2023, the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo filed an indictment against Milan Radoičić and 44 others for the Banjska terrorist attack.
They are charged with criminal offenses related to terrorism, specifically “Criminal acts against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo,” “Financing of terrorism,” and “Money laundering.”
