Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated on Friday that the new weapons acquired by the Serbian army “have not been seen in Europe”, during a visit to Zagreb.
Plenković added that he has written to NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, but declined to provide further details.
Kosovo’s Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci also commented on Serbia’s new arms, telling Radio Free Europe that the purchase of Chinese weapons indicates hegemonic tendencies by Serbia toward neighboring countries.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced on 12 March that Serbia had bought supersonic CM-400 ballistic missiles from China, already integrated with Russian MiG-29 fighter jets. The missiles reportedly have a range of 200–400 km and high destructive power.
Vučić responded to Plenković, asserting that “Zagreb will not decide what Serbia will possess” and claiming that Serbia is preparing for a potential attack from an alliance of Prishtina, Tirana, and Zagreb.
