Aleksandar Vučić is attacking the credibility of one of Serbia’s main election-monitoring organizations just weeks before the October 25 parliamentary elections.
CRTA says Vučić is repeatedly portraying the organization as a political participant and accusing it of being part of a “colored revolution,” rather than an independent observer. CRTA says the purpose of these attacks is to discredit it as a witness to possible electoral fraud and irregularities.
The timing is significant. CRTA is actively monitoring the 2026 electoral process, while its previous election reports have documented concerns including pressure and intimidation, misuse of public resources and other alleged violations of electoral rules.
CRTA has rejected Vučić’s accusations and pointed to fact-checks addressing what it describes as false claims about the organization. It says its role is not to compete in elections, but to observe them and publicly report what its monitors document.
The confrontation raises a straightforward question: if the elections are being conducted fairly, why attack the organization whose job is to watch them?
With Serbia heading to the polls on October 25, CRTA says it will continue monitoring the process despite the political pressure it says is being directed against it.
