The Czech Minister for European Affairs, Martin Dvorak, has urged the European Union to intensify its efforts in the enlargement process, arguing that the inclusion of new member states would strengthen the EU’s security and competitiveness amid current geopolitical uncertainty.

His remarks followed a meeting in Prague with European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.

Dvorak emphasized that countries currently on the path to EU integration — including Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, and Albania — are vital to the continent’s stability and should be more actively involved in EU political debates.

Commissioner Kos acknowledged the significant challenges facing the enlargement process, warning of “divisive forces” threatening the EU’s unity. She stressed that now is the time for the EU to remain united and support further integration.

Dvorak concluded the meeting by affirming that enlargement could greatly impact Europe’s future and should remain a top priority for the EU.
