An explosion caused by a propane-butane cylinder in a restaurant in the city of Most, northwestern Czech Republic, has left six people dead, emergency services reported on Sunday. The blast, which occurred late Saturday night, ignited a fire that engulfed the building.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts
Eight people sustained injuries in the explosion, with one severely injured individual rescued from the restaurant’s bathroom. Approximately 30 people were evacuated from the restaurant and surrounding buildings, according to the Czech Fire and Rescue Service.
Cause of the Incident
Initial witness reports suggest that a heater tipped over, triggering the fire and subsequent explosion, authorities confirmed. At the time of the incident, around 20 guests were present in the restaurant, according to Czech Radio.
