Kosovo MP Daut Haradinaj, from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has declared that he would not vote for Fatmir Limaj as Speaker of the Assembly, even if his name is proposed by Vetëvendosje (VV).
“Personally, I will not vote for him. And I say that publicly. Not for any political reason, but because of what you just asked: ‘Are you still upset?’ Yes. He should have handled this ‘divorce’ more carefully,” Haradinaj said during an appearance on Dukagjini TV.
Haradinaj emphasized that AAK’s vote should not even be expected by Limaj unless he becomes part of the opposition coalition.
“The only way for Mr. Limaj to get my vote is if he is part of the opposition coalition.”
He also reacted to remarks made by outgoing Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who suggested that without Nisma’s support, AAK might not have passed the electoral threshold in the last election—referencing the electoral cooperation between AAK and Nisma.
Haradinaj accused Kurti of flattering Limaj, despite a history of conflict between them:
“It would be far more appropriate for the Prime Minister to focus on his responsibilities—as Prime Minister, as leader of VV, and as the one responsible for nominating the Speaker.
Instead, we’ve had 20 failed sessions while the country is in deep crisis, and the Prime Minister acts like a fortune teller, telling us who helped whom.”
“This is nothing more than servility toward Mr. Limaj, after 20 years of insults, accusations, and public attacks by Kurti himself.”
