Member of Parliament from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Daut Haradinaj, has paid tribute to national hero Mentor Tolaj.
In a Facebook post, Haradinaj emphasized that Mentor Tolaj was one of the first voices to warn that war with Serbia was inevitable, thus becoming a symbol of resistance and a source of inspiration for the youth of Deçan.
“Hero Mentor Tolaj was a national initiator and early warner that conflict with Serbia was inevitable. Together with his comrades, he became a symbol of resistance and a motivator for the passionate youth of Deçan. Mentor elevated the legacy of generations in his family with his blood,” wrote Haradinaj.
He also remembered the role of the hero’s brother, Agron Tolaj, who stood at the forefront of mobilization efforts of the time, facing years of imprisonment and torture like many other activists of the resistance.
“Today, with pride, the central square of Deçan bears the name of hero Mentor Tolaj,” concluded Haradinaj.
The naming of this square is a tribute to Mentor Tolaj’s legacy and a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made for Kosovo’s freedom.
