Today marks the second day of the 3rd edition of the International Forum on Women, Peace, and Security, organized under the leadership of President Vjosa Osmani.
The two-day forum has brought together 45 delegations from around the world, including presidents, ministers, representatives of international organizations, and civil society activists, all gathering in Pristina to discuss global peace and security through the lens of women’s leadership and resilience.
“In the most difficult times for our country, it was the women of this state who kept our hearts united. They never accepted to be seen as victims, but as builders of peace,” said President Osmani during her speech today. “They did not only think about our freedom, but also about justice, dignity, and a future worth living. They continue doing this every single day.”
Referring to Kosovo’s past, Osmani emphasized that “in the darkest and hardest hours, it was the women of this country who kept us alive.”
She added: “They refused to be seen as victims and instead became peacebuilders. The stories of Kosovo’s children are not ordinary childhood tales—they are living pieces of war wounds. The most painful sound is not always the cry—it’s the silence. This year’s theme is more than a title. It is a call to break the cycle of violence.”
The forum continues to serve as a platform for global dialogue and action in advancing women’s roles in conflict resolution, post-war recovery, and sustainable peace.
