New deadly border clashes have erupted between Pakistani forces and Taliban fighters from Afghanistan, with both sides accusing each other of violating a fragile ceasefire in the increasingly volatile frontier region.

Residents fled overnight from the Afghan border town of Spin Boldak, located along the 2,574-km boundary separating the two countries, as tensions escalated.

A medical source in nearby Kandahar told BBC Pashto that a local hospital had received the bodies of four people, while three others were reported injured on the Pakistani side.

The latest violence follows months of sporadic cross-border fighting, which has strained relations between Islamabad and the Taliban government in Kabul. Afghan Taliban authorities have also accused Pakistan of conducting airstrikes inside Afghan territory—claims Pakistan has repeatedly denied.

The situation remains tense, with no confirmation yet from either side on whether the ceasefire remains in effect.
