A powerful storm system has wreaked havoc across the United States, bringing tornadoes, wildfires, and destructive winds that have claimed at least 17 lives and caused massive damage.
Missouri was the hardest-hit state, with 11 fatalities reported after violent tornadoes tore through communities overnight. In Arkansas, three people lost their lives, and 29 others were injured, prompting Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to launch an emergency relief operation. Texas also saw three storm-related deaths due to a dust storm causing multiple accidents.
The severe weather has sparked over 100 wildfires, destroying more than 300 homes in Oklahoma, forcing residents to evacuate.
The National Weather Service has issued further storm warnings for the southeastern U.S., cautioning of winds reaching up to 160 km/h. With over 100 million Americans affected by extreme weather conditions, authorities are mobilizing efforts to aid survivors and assess the damage.
