With the amendments to an administrative directive, approved on Wednesday by the Government of Kosovo, the seized properties of Serbian businessman from north Kosovo, Milan Radoičić, will be handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, specifically to the Kosovo Police.
Kosovo seeks Radoičić as a suspect for organizing the armed attack in the village of Banjska, in Zvečan, last September.
In this attack, a Kosovo policeman was killed, and in the ensuing armed clashes, three Serbian attackers were also killed.
Radoičić is believed to be free in Serbia.
During an operation in April, the Kosovo Agency for the Management of Seized or Confiscated Assets seized two real estate properties in North Mitrovica, a restaurant and an apartment, as well as a villa in the municipality of Zubin Potok – all owned by Radoičić.
Speaking at the Government meeting on Wednesday, Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, said that these properties are currently under the management of the ministry she leads, specifically the Kosovo Agency for the Management of Seized or Confiscated Assets.
Haxhiu stated that the changes in the administrative directive are important because they eliminate lengthy procedures for leasing seized and confiscated properties when requested by a public institution or state body.
Haxhiu mentioned that Radoičić’s seized properties are located in strategically important locations.
According to her, transferring them under the management of security institutions is aimed at “increasing state, territorial, and institutional security” in north Kosovo – an area predominantly inhabited by Serbs.
After the approval of the amendments to the administrative directive in the Government of Kosovo, Haxhiu said that the country’s institutions will continue with other procedures.
