Delcy Rodríguez has been officially sworn in as the interim president of Venezuela.

The oath of office was administered on Monday afternoon by her brother, Jorge Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly, CNN reports.

The acting head of state said she was taking the oath with a broken heart over what she described as the “abduction” of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.

“I come as the Executive Vice President of the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, to take the oath of office,” Rodríguez stated.
