The participation of Ivan Stoilković, Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia, in an anti-NATO event in Belgrade has raised significant controversy. Stoilković was seen alongside Milorad Dodik, the leader of Republika Srpska, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić at an event commemorating the “NATO Aggression” against Serbia

This appearance on the 5th anniversary of North Macedonia’s NATO membership has sparked concerns, as it sends a clear signal about where the country stands, despite its NATO membership. Stoilković’s actions have been criticized by his own government, with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski unable to provide a clear answer regarding the Deputy Prime Minister’s attendance.

The ruling BDI party condemned Stoilković’s participation as an open provocation against North Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic orientation, calling it “shameful.” They expressed concern over Stoilković’s consistent actions which have undermined the country’s strategic interests, including his attendance at the 2023 Security Summit in Moscow and his role in bringing Dodik to Skopje earlier this year, where Dodik expressed anti-NATO and anti-EU views.
