The Municipality of Prishtina has managed to utilize over 80% of its budget and has achieved 63% of its capital investments. The Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, considered this a historic achievement and the result of tireless work, despite the blockades and challenges faced during the year. The opposition has consistently criticized the non-implementation of major projects.

The Mayor of the capital, Përparim Rama, stated that for the first time in its history, the municipality has utilized over 80% of the budget and has completed 63% of its capital investments.

“This is proof of tireless work, despite every boycott, blockade, and challenge we have faced along the way,” said Përparim Rama, Mayor of Pristina.

According to Rama, behind this success are the directors of the capital. “I know that we still have much to do, but our vision is unstoppable: we will restore the glory, dignity, and unique spirit of this city. This is our commitment to you, and we will fulfill it,” he said.

However, the capital has been characterized by various developments throughout 2024. February marked the breakdown of the coalition between the LDK and PDK in Prishtina, resulting in the loss of the majority for the ruling party. As a result, the Chairman of the Municipal Assembly from the LDK, Pëllumb Bajqinovci, was dismissed and later replaced by Fehmi Kupina in this position.

Rama was unable to gather the necessary votes for the municipal development plan, as he did for the approval of the urban planning plan for Kalabria.

Even for the approval of the 2025 budget, securing the necessary votes was a struggle. Throughout the year, the opposition addressed criticisms of the capital’s government regarding the non-implementation of major projects, issues with waste management, stray dogs, and the overloaded traffic system.
