The Central Election Commission has announced that today, February 8, in several countries around the world, embassies will be transformed into voting centers for 20,324 Kosovo citizens who, during registration, selected this voting method.
Valmir Elezi, spokesperson for the CEC, stated that they will be able to vote on Saturday from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM, according to the local time of the respective country.
“For the first time in the history of the Republic of Kosovo, voting will be organized in diplomatic missions located in different countries worldwide. The voting process will take place in 16 Embassies and 14 Consulates of the Republic of Kosovo, situated in 19 different countries. The total number of registered voters to vote in these 30 diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kosovo is 20,324,” Elezi said yesterday.
He clarified that only voters registered at diplomatic missions will be able to vote on February 8, 2025, as the Voter List sent to the diplomatic missions contains only the names of citizens who selected this voting method when registering as voters abroad during the registration period.
It is worth noting that approximately 105,000 citizens have registered to vote abroad, of which 20,324 are registered to vote physically in one of the 30 diplomatic missions. Around 17,000 other citizens have registered to send their ballots by mail to the CEC’s box in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, around 60,000 others are registered to send their ballots to one of the CEC’s postal boxes located abroad.
Additionally, today marks the beginning of the distribution of election materials from the Center for Counting and Results to municipalities in Kosovo, specifically the Municipal Counting Centers (MCC).
