Citizens of Serbia around the world will gather on March 15 and 16 in over 30 cities to show their solidarity with students in Serbia and demonstrate global support for the student movement.
Organizers have stated, “This will be the largest diaspora protest to date – from Europe, through Qatar to Australia and New Zealand,” as reported by FoNet.
On March 15 and 16, participants will assemble at public locations and observe a 15-minute silence in honor of the victims of the tragedy in Novi Sad on November 1, 2024.
“The goal is for Serbian citizens living abroad to also contribute to the mass gathering scheduled for March 15 in Belgrade. After these gatherings, a joint video featuring footage from all the cities will be produced and made available to the media,” the organizers added.
The list of countries where the solidarity protests will take place includes Australia, Austria, France, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
The events are being organized by students and citizens in collaboration with various formal and informal groups worldwide, with no political or party affiliations, as emphasized in the statement.
