As the counting of diaspora votes continues, the Socialist Party (PS) has established a significant lead over its main rival, the Democratic Party (PD), according to the latest figures from the Central Election Commission (KQZ).
So far, approximately 38,806 envelopes containing ballots from Albanian citizens abroad have been opened. Preliminary results indicate that the Socialist Party has secured 55% of the diaspora vote, while the Democratic Party trails with 28%.
Meanwhile, the “Nisma Bashkë” Coalition ranks third, gathering 8.2% of the votes, followed by “Mundësia” with 3%, placing them in fourth.
It is important to note that a total of approximately 195,000 voting envelopes were sent in from the diaspora, meaning the vote counting is still ongoing and further shifts are possible. However, the current lead of the Socialist Party marks a strong showing among Albanian expatriate voters and could be decisive in shaping the national outcome.
As the tally progresses, all eyes remain on the diaspora’s impact, a factor that has gained increasing weight in recent Albanian electoral cycles.
