A citizen from Gjakova who had returned from the diaspora to vote reported that he was unable to exercise his right to vote in today’s local elections.

The reason, he explained, was a recent change in his citizenship status. He had returned to Kosovo specifically to participate in the elections.

“I didn’t vote because I had returned my citizenship a month ago, and I’m not on the election lists. They told me to go to another school. I came for the elections, but I couldn’t vote this time,” he said.

This case highlights ongoing challenges faced by members of the diaspora in participating in Kosovo’s electoral process.
