The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that the collection of postal deliveries from its designated mailboxes, as well as the delivery of electoral materials to diplomatic representations, will be conducted via land transportation by CEC officials.

According to the CEC, this process will be facilitated with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MFA).

“The Ministry has secured transport vehicles, which will be operated by its officials,” the CEC stated.

Ensuring Transparency and Security

“So far, in several instances, the CEC has retrieved ballot packages that were temporarily stored in various diplomatic missions, specifically in their secured rooms under constant camera surveillance. These retrievals have been conducted transparently, with prior notice given to political party observers, who have not raised any objections regarding the retrieval protocols and the presence of CEC officials.”

Additionally, the CEC clarified that the transport of ballot packages and other election materials to the Republic of Kosovo will be carried out under continuous escort by CEC officials, with the status of diplomatic consignments.

“The Central Election Commission has ensured that this transport method is safe, problem-free, and maintains the integrity of the electoral process and materials. This type of transport has a diplomatic character, including accompanying elements such as verbal notes, which enhance the security of the shipments.”

Reason Behind the Decision

This decision was made due to the ongoing appeals process in the postal service tender procedure, which has prevented the signing of a contract with the winning economic operator.
