Kosovar Serb politician Goran Rakić appeared today before the Basic Court in Pristina.
He has been indicted for failure to declare his assets.
The judge in the case is Naime Krasniqi Jashanica.
In May of this year, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Pristina indicted the former chairman of the Serbian List, Goran Rakić, for failing to declare his assets.
According to the indictment, it is stated that Rakić, in his capacity as Minister of the Ministry for Communities and Return, deliberately acted in violation of Article 5 of the Law on Declaration, Origin, and Control of the Assets of Senior Public Officials, by failing to accurately provide the required information in the asset declaration form, despite being obliged to do so.
The indictment, secured by “Betimi për Drejtësi”, states that Rakić, in the asset declaration form submitted on March 31, 2021, did not accurately provide the required information for the year 2020, specifically failing to declare the annual income earned from his role as an assistant at the Higher School of Economics in Peja and his role at the public company “Standard” in Mitrovica.
In the reasoning of the indictment, it is stated that Rakić, in his statement given to the Prosecutor’s Office, fully admitted to committing the criminal offense and expressed his willingness to enter negotiations for a plea deal.
