Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vučević recently declared, “I fear a new provocation in Kosovo on Monday, during the Berlin Process Summit.” And precisely on Monday, a provocation came from Serbia at the border in Merdar.

Was the Serbian Prime Minister’s statement a warning?

The Kosovo Police reported last night about a provocation from the Serbian side in Merdar. According to the announcement, four members of the Serbian gendarmerie stayed for a few minutes at the entrance of the Serbian side, at the border police station in Merdar.

Furthermore, it is stated that with a “Land Rover” vehicle, they crossed the border line, which actually constitutes a violation of the agreement on Integrated Border Management (IBM).

“The Kosovo Police requests that relevant international authorities take necessary actions to maintain stability and ensure mutual respect for agreements related to integrated border management and security in general.

The Kosovo Police is performing its legal duties to maintain peace, stability, and professional management of state borders based on its constitutional mandate and respecting international agreements on integrated border management, while remaining committed to preserving sovereignty and will respond professionally to any illegal, unconstitutional act, or actions that violate international agreements on border management.” – the announcement states.
