Despite her physical exhaustion, Dijana Hrka, mother of Stefan, one of the 16 victims of the collapsed roof at the Novi Sad railway station, continues her hunger strike in front of Ćacilend. She asserts that she will not end her protest and accuses Serbian institutions of failing their duty and deceiving citizens.

Hrka, who has been on hunger strike for ten days, admitted she is weak and barely able to stand. “I feel faint, but I will endure it,” she said.

She refused to comment on a phone call with President Aleksandar Vučić, nor did she provide details about the discussion.

“Even before the loud noise yesterday morning, people tried to approach my tent. No one reacted, no one came to investigate, so I do not want to speak to anyone. This is going in the wrong direction, both from their side and mine. I do not threaten anyone, but if something happens to me, it will be clear how it ends,” Hrka warned.

She repeated that institutions are failing the public, shifting responsibility from one agency to another.

Why are you lying to the people?” she asked.

“God forbid someone gets hurt here, but even they will not escape accountability,” she added.

Hrka confirmed that she will continue the hunger strike.

“I am a child who grew up during the war, often hungrier than full. I have been hungry many times, and I will not stop this hunger strike. I can and I will continue, and let them feel shame and guilt,” she said through tears.
