Dragan Đilas, leader of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), has demanded the resignation of Ana Brnabić, President of the Serbian Parliament, after she claimed that the collapse of the Novi Sad railway station shelter — which killed 16 people — was not an accident but a “planned act of sabotage” carried out as part of a color revolution.

Brnabić suggested that the United States, the United Kingdom, and several EU countries organized the incident as a terrorist act with the goal of overthrowing President Aleksandar Vučić.

Đilas strongly condemned the statement, stressing that such accusations from someone who has held the second most important position in the state and previously served multiple terms as Prime Minister could have serious consequences for Serbia’s international reputation.

Đilas: Brnabić’s Words Spread Fear and Damage Serbia

“These allegations mean that countries like the U.S., Britain, France, and Germany deliberately killed 16 people to topple Vučić. Such claims are not only dangerous but disgraceful. While people in Serbia are used to Ana Brnabić’s incoherent remarks, the damage from her words is real,” Đilas said.

He insisted that Brnabić must immediately resign and that Serbian officials, including President Vučić, should distance themselves from her statement.

Furthermore, Đilas called on the Prosecutor’s Office to open a case against Brnabić for spreading panic, arguing that citizens who believe her words may fear that such a terrorist act could happen again.

A Political Crisis Deepens

According to Đilas, Brnabić would not have made such a claim without coordination with Vučić, which, in his view, proves a broader political manipulation. He concluded that, despite the current government’s control, justice will eventually hold them accountable.
