Shaip Kamberi, MP and representative of the Albanians of the Presevo Valley, held an official meeting at the U.S. Department of State, where he was received by Daniel J. Lawton, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia, and Joe Farbeann, responsible for Serbia.

During the meeting, Kamberi highlighted the challenges faced by Albanians in the Presheva Valley, citing systemic discrimination, address deactivations, exclusion from institutions, and policies by Belgrade aimed at the administrative erasure of the Albanian community.

“When Belgrade denies the problem, we internationalize it. When doors are closed for us in Serbia, we open them in Washington,” Kamberi stated, emphasizing the importance of raising international awareness of the rights of Albanians in the Presheva Valley.

The MP also thanked his supporters in the U.S., notably Faton Bislimi from the Albanian-American Civic League and Gino Mulliqi, who have served as direct bridges to U.S. institutions.

Kamberi stressed that the issue of the Presheva Valley is not merely a local matter but one of human rights and regional stability in the Balkans.
